BIOGRAPHY
Ida Chloë Lou Olsen «Lola» (b. June 1990) is a Norwegian artist, analog film photographer & poetry writer from Stjørdal, now based in Oslo. In 2019, she achieved a first-class BA from The University of Westminster in London. She has, mentioning a selected few (full list below), exhibited work at Brick Lane Gallery in 2023, had her first solo show ‘Cloudland’at Galleri kyo in 2020, and Free Range in 2018. Her work has been published in Black Flower Publishing, Nowhere Diary, SOLA Journal, Black River, Closure Magazine, Fisheye Magazine, with more.
Her work studies intimate passages of life, mirroring poetic notes of themes such as time, space, and memory, identity, childhood, and home. Lately, she has looked more closely at ‘the land’; how our identities are shaped by the land, and how we shape the land around us. Her images holds a performative side, where she merges herself into, and interact closely with the landscapes in which she spends her time; touching something; someone, with the hope of recording how mundane daily life situations often can be something very special. Her intimate portraits and self-portraits futher represent a silent hope of understanding the constant human experience.
To mention a few of her works, Blue (Come to Me Now) is made in a small town of Italy; a retrospective coming-of-age portrait series about being a woman. It further speaks of the significance of mother, daughter, and sisterhood within a family culture. Song of the Iris is based upon Greek Mythology and Iris, the goddess of the rainbow and messenger of the gods. Iris is said to be a link between the gods and the mortals. EDEN, one of her latest works, is a personal story about how you can transform hardship into a profound lightness of being.
